Letter from the President: On the Road Again!

You may not hear from us often enough, but behind the scenes, your South Dakota State Poetry Society has been busy promoting poets and poetry throughout our state. We have lots of exciting activities and events coming up, and we’ll be out & about this fall through next spring hoping to hear from as many of our South Dakota poets as possible. We hope to see YOU along the way…

ANNUAL MEETING

Our annual meeting will be held on Saturday, September 21 at the South Dakota Festival of Books, time & room TBA. The meeting is open to ALL members of SDSPS – we hope YOU will join us there and add your voice and ideas as we plan for the year ahead.

POETRY ON THE ROAD is PACKING UP THE BUS!

POETRY ON THE ROAD is set to take off for our second year. SDSPS member poets will visit communities across the state, with readings and open mics at each event. We hope to hear YOUR poetry this year as we travel – these events are free, ANYONE can sign up to read at the open mics, and you can attend one or all of our events.  For more info and schedule, visit https://sdpoetry.org/poetry-on-the-road/

POETRY PALOOZA – THE SOUTH DAKOTA FESTIVAL OF BOOKS!

The Festival is on, and SDSPS will be there. Join us September 20-22 in Brookings, SD. There will be a plethora of poets giving presentations and readings; a treasure trove of poetry books to add to your collections at the vendor tables; the kickoff for our new year of POETRY ON THE ROAD, followed by an open mic on Friday night; and the SDSPS Annual Meeting on Saturday.
