Vintage Poems – ZED

This reminded me of a Dorothy Parker piece. I love poems like this, ones that make you laugh and make you think and ones that have hearken back to another era. Enjoy!

ZED
By Jane Hoyt Lamb, Hill City

I have added to my life
By temperance and careful diet,
But I am less and less assured
That everyone should try it.

For if I’d known the time I saved
Would add on to my final years
And not be sandwiched in mid-life,
I’d have had a few more beers,

More coffee , sugar, cigarettes,
More butter on my sticky bun.
The time I’ve added to the end
of life is not much fun.
