Calendar of Events for Poets and Writers in South Dakota
Submit to the Spring 2020 Pasque Petals.
February 1st is the deadline for submitting poems to Pasque Petals, the bi-annual poetry magazine which publishes work from people with a SD connection.
February 6- Brookings-area poets will meet at 6 p.m. at Cottonwood Coffee downtown for poetry sharing and feedback.
March 1st is the deadline for submitting poems to the Poet Laureate’s anthology South Dakota in Poems: An Anthology.
March 5- Brookings-area poets will meet at 6 p.m. at Cottonwood Coffee downtown for poetry sharing and feedback.
March 10- Christine Stewart’s presenting a MakeSpace Author Talk in Spearfish, SD at 12pm. Location: 517 Jackson Blvd in Spearfish.
April 2020– Poetry Month
April 2nd 6:00-7:30 p.m. Poetry workshop at the Brookings Arts Council, focusing on landscape poems. Bring an image of a landscape for generating ideas. (Cost $10 for both the April 2nd and April 16th classes).
April 4th 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. Great Plains Writer’s Conference in Brookings, SD in the Performing Arts Center
April 16th 6:00-7:30 p.m. Poetry workshop at the Brookings Arts Council, focusing on portrait poems.
April 19th 6:00-7:30 p.m. Poetry Open Mic at the Brookings Arts Council sponsored by both the Arts Council and the South Dakota State Poetry Society.
April 24th-25th Dakota Conference at the Center for Western Studies at Augustana University
Submit to the fall 2020 Pasque Petals.
August 1st is the deadline for submitting to the Fall Pasque Petals.

December 1st is our poetry contest deadline for both categories: portrait and landscape. For more information about submitting, visit out submission page.
